I started this site with a few pictures of my boots that were scanned by Steve Ng.  On March 3, 1997, I posted them in a group of pages on my personal web site at the slip.net web service.  Those pages were called "Boots".

When activity got to be too much for a personal site, I obtained the domain name hotboots.com in August, 1998.  The "Boots" site was transfered to the new domain and Hot Boots was officially started.  The rest is history!

New features were added and activity kept growing.  In some months over 37,000 unique visitors have looked at the Hot Boots site, and over 2,000 users now check the site on a daily basis.  Many of you have been here from the very beginning.  A community of bootmen has formed, many friends have been made, and, in some cases, new partnerships have formed. I know of several dozen couples who first met here on Hot Boots!

I have downloaded several of the Hot Boots pages from over the years, and I now present them here for all of you to view and enjoy some of our history.  See how the site has changed over the past 20 years!  You'll see some familiar features that were there from the very beginning.  Watch as the the format has changed, new features were added, and new activities were announced.

A lot has happened in 20 years! I hope you enjoy this review of Hot Boots!

This is the first Hot Boots website that was saved by archive.org.  Notice how the site was initially set up for gay men.  I soon found that a boot fetish has little to do with a person's sexuality, as many straight men were using the site.

A Boot Fetish Party in Chicago is announced.

May 5, 2001

Larry takes off for vacation; "What's New?" now appears on the home page, a Folsom Boot Fetish Party is announced and the first clickable box for "Boots On Line" appears.

July 11, 2001

A "Ribbon of Unity" is announced following the 9-11 disaster, and new clickable boxes for Personals and Boot Swap show up.

September 22, 2001

On November 9th there was a server failure at our service provider, CI Host, and we had a 12 day service outage where the site wasn't on line.  On November 21 site restoration began and it took two days for all of the features to return.
