This is a photo showing how I lace my boots to hold the brush guard from slipping down. To lace your boots this way you start by threading the laces into the BACK of the brush guard and out the front.

Next, take the laces coming out of the front of the brush guard and thread them directly into the BACK of the bottom most eyelets closest to where each lace comes out the front of the brush guard. In other words, do not cross the laces yet.

Next, pull the laces out the front of the bottom most eyelet and thread them over the eyelet and then thread them under the lace where it comes out of the brush guard.

Finally, pull the laces up behind the laces that come out of the brush guard and cross them up to the next to the bottom eyelets and then crisscross up as you lace.

You may also notice that I have cut two parallel vertical slits in the brush guard, even with the third eyelet's from the bottom, and use them to lace through which also serves to hold the brush guard in place. I used a sharp Exacto knife to cut the slits about 1/4-inch long, being careful to position it at about the height of the third eyelets so as not to have the pattern of the crisscross distorted.
